On the rare times we do get to go out, unless one of us is celebrating something with a cocktail, we usually order water to save on the out to eat expenses. It's healthier by far and doesn't cost you a thing in most restaurants! We are actually beginning to teach our kids to do the same thing. Many places are beginning to charge on refills of other drinks, even for children!

Good tip!
1Ordering water is a great idea, I have 5 kids and then add the two adults we can save at least $10 a meal. That's lunch for me tomorrow
2i almost always order water, unless i want a glass of booze during dinner. recently, i've started drinking water for more of my meals at home too, which i'm finding is saving me some money too! i live alone, so buying large containers of juice, etc., isn't really economical for me, since i can't drink it all before it goes bad. and cutting down soda consumption makes my wallet (and my body) happy.
3That's a great tip! I suspect FitSugar would approve too!
4Ooh, this is a must. I get so annoyed every time we go out to dinner & my husband orders a $2 glass of instant iced "tea."
5We do this all the time because my husband claims restaurant soda is a giant ripoff.
6I always order water and add a packet of sweetner. Last week I ordered my regular glass of water and found there was no sweetner on the table and asked the waitress for a packet of sweet and low. She told me I would be charged for a regular drink if she gave me the sweetner. What gives???
