Our biggest problem with a budget is that my husband's hours are not steady, so he might only work 15 hours a week. Luckily each of my checks cover half our bills. What I do is pay half of what's due with each check (I get paid bi-weekly) and then it's not a huge chunk getting taken out and everything is paid on time. Whatever is left out of my check and all of my husband's check go toward groceries and other necessities (including feeding a savings account.)
